Features on the fly in July

AUTHOR: Kinde

Check out what we’ve achieved this month. B2B customers are going to be thrilled!

Set global policies for user access control

We’ve introduced the concept of ‘policies’ for easier user access management. Define the rules for signing up to applications, including if sign-ups are allowed, default roles, allowed domains, auto-join by domain, profile sync, etc. Read about global access policies.

B2B and multi-tenant features (Org-level settings)

These features can be configured at the organization level if you are on the Kinde Scale plan.

  • Define access policies per organization to control who can sign up and how

  • Add a domain allowlist and auto-join organizations based on domain

  • Assign default roles to new members of an organization

Learn more in the docs.

Coming soon

  • Configure multi-factor authentication per organization

  • Use a custom domain for an organization

Delete your own business

People on free plans who’ve been testing Kinde can now self-serve delete their own business, without contacting us for assistance. Founders on the Pro, Plus, or Scale plans will still need to contact us so we can check there are no breaking dependencies. Find out how.

Collect marketing consent on sign up

Meet compliance and ethical standards by asking for permission to send marketing to users. You can now add a marketing consent checkbox to the sign up screen in your authentication flow. Enable this for your application.

Create a unified sign up and sign in experience

Create a seamless sign up experience by enabling user sign up and sign in on the same screen. To achieve this all users are redirected to the registration flow and the link to sign in is removed. Go seamless.

New SAML enterprise connections

We’ve added more SAML enterprise connection options to Kinde:

Webhooks decoder

Decode and validate Kinde webhook tokens using the new decoder kit. Get started.

Other authentication enhancements

  • Credentials obscured for passwordless flow - When users enter their one-time code they will now only see a partial hint for their phone number or email. E.g. Code sent to bob*****@gmail.com or Code sent to 0400****23. This change enhances credential security, while also providing a useful hint for multi-device and account users.

  • Authentication success page - A new page now displays a success message when users authenticate, persisting when users switch to a desktop app from a browser.

  • Gravatar for fallback profile images - Kinde usually receives user profile pictures via the email provider, e.g. Google. If no picture is attached to a profile, Kinde sets a fallback profile picture using a Gravatar URL. If you don’t want to use Gravatar, you can switch this off. Find out how.
